Upstairs is a little stunner lounge perched atop Midtown’s Kimberly Hotel. This rooftop is enjoyable in summer and in winter with its retractable roof.
This rooftop is one of those places that lets you look upon the grandeur of Midtown and remember why you chose to live in this city. Stepping out among potted flowers and black wicker furniture, beneath a crisscross of exposed lightbulbs strung overhead, you have just entered the sort of garden party that rarely happens within view of the Chrysler Building.

Le Bain is located at the 18th floor of the fashion Standard Hotel, in the middle of Meatpacking. The roof is covered in grassy synthetic turf, yellow and white wicker furniture dots the bar areas (there are two), and the glass walls that line the roof are flanked by white picnic tables and five oversize, round, pink waterbeds.

Open seasonally, Bar d’Eau has an outdoor landscaped 6,000-square-foot Pool Deck with a blue Italian mosaic-lined lounge pool with a cascading waterfall as well as three private cabanas (perfect spot for a tête-à-tête). You will also find a Bocce ball court that proves lawn bowling isn’t just for crotchety old guys in Bryant Park. As the sun sets, it is an ideal place to enjoy al fresco cocktails above the city streets. Located on the seventh floor deck, Bar d’Eau’s views aren’t as spectacular as some of it’s midtown competition, but the bar itself keeps the atmosphere just as swank.

Right off the Queensboro bridge, across from Manhattan, this luxe rooftop bar is a newcomer to the scene but definitely has the views to compete with the best of them.
Situated atop the Ravel Hotel, the Penthouse 808 (which debuted in May 2009) is no doubt the hotel’s centerpiece. It delivers up-close vistas of the bridge and Midtown high-rises, as well as a sweeping vista of the East River (two factory smoke stacks sit in the foreground but add depth to the otherwise picture-perfect view). If there’s a private party, the kitchen can’t handle outside orders; and the music is a tad too loud for sunset cocktails. Still, for those after killer city views, it’s a vantage point that can’t be beat.

The Glass Bar is an (optional) glass-enclosed rooftop bar at the top of the Hotel Indigo in Chelsea. On pleasant days, the glass roof is open to the air on all sides. But on a gray battleship of a day, the sides are wrapped in a transparent, waterproof covering, creating your booze-fueled sanctuary in the storm.
Head over to this rooftop bar for a cosmo and some sun on a warm summer afternoon, or enjoy the view with a drink under the glass enclosure when the weather is not so nice. Either way, Glass Bar at Hotel Indigo makes a wonderful addition to the already-booming rooftop bar scene in New York City.

The rooftop opened in May 2010. The “wow” effect is there, for sure! To the east, you get pure midtown cityscape with Times Square as strobe light; to the west, there’s the Hudson River. The hudge deck has seating for 172 on stools, couches, and podlike armchairs, all encircling a twenty-foot-long reflecting pool. Get there after work, around 7:00 PM, order a martini embellished with pickled ramps ($15) and a small plate of salumi, olives, and grilled bread ($15), and stick around for the sunset. What else?

A hidden oasis under the Manhattan skyline, Mad46 Rooftop Lounge just re-opened in April 2010 and has aleady become a good place to mix and mingle with midtown’s after work crowd.
Try the MadMojito (The Mad 46′s special). You will find also lite fare including Sliders and Quesadillas for the perfect happy hour. The Best day to go there is on Saturday: it closes at 2AM and the music is great!
Mad46 is a place to come to relax over drinks after a long day at the office. Reservations are accepted for groups of six or more guests, and private parties are also available. Be carefull if you intend to get there late (8-9PM), there will be a line…

A very good place to hang out with friends for afterworks. This 15th’s floor rooftop overlooking Midtown, with a view down Broadway to Times Square, is a famous spot for people who work midtown and who want to take a drink after work. The rooftop of the Dream Hotel has a wooden bench, and is often crowded. The best days to come are Friday and Saturday, when DJs come over.

The Peninsula Hotel offers 2 terraces on the rooftop. One providing a Fifth Avenue view, the other a view of Central Park and Midtown buildings (that one is non-smoking). Both are outfitted with daybeds fashioned from ornately carved timber. Eastern-tinged cocktails like the Ning Sling (mandarin vodka, lychee liqueur, mint, and lychee and passion fruit juices) and spirits like Chinese Baojing vodka and Tyku, an infused sake, match with the theme.

Located on the penthouse floor of an unremarkable midtown building, this rooftop provides indoor and outdoor space, sleek wooden furniture and comfy canopied daybeds (generally reserved for the bottle service crowd). A large, enclosable room (with retractable roof) has plenty of banquettes and private nooks.

One of the most beautifull Rooftop of NYC, but also very expensive. Almost no music when there is no party… It’s a shame, because it could be one of the best rooftop in New York. The other amazing thing you will find there is prices! $15 a glass of wine, what the f**k!
Hudson Sky Terrace

Open only during spring and summer months, the Hudson Hotel’s Sky Terrace is a beautiful private oasis that features pergolas covered in leaves, oversized planters filled with lima bean plants, and plenty of shady spots in which to relax. That’s all for the good points. For the drawbacks, drinks are expensive, there is no music, and it’s often packed… Not our favorite, but still a beautiful view.
